In order to make a simple DVD from the recordings on your camera, follow these three steps:
Step 1. Check to make sure you have a DVD burner and software that will allow you to make a DVD disc.
What is a DVD burner? It’s part of your computer – an optical disc recorder that records video onto blank DVD discs (you know the CD player in your computer box? A DVD burner looks like it, and is usually located below the CD player) . Most newer computers come DVD burners already installed.
What is DVD burning software? DVD software is a computer program that tells your DVD burner how to make the DVD.
Where do I get DVD burning software? First check in the box that came with your camcorder (video camera). Usually there is software on a disk that goes along with your camcorder. If you can’t locate this software, there are many simple DVD burning software programs you can download onto your computer. My favorite simple DVD making tool is the free one at DVDFlick.net . Another good free site is sourceforge.net which is a trusted site in open source project hosting. Just search for “DVD Author” or “DVD burner” when you get there.
Step 2. Transfer the video from your camera to your computer, using the Firewire or USB connections provided with your camera (check your camcorder instruction booklet for details).
Step 3. After you have the video transferred to your computer, use your DVD burning software to create a DVD.
