How Long Does It Take to Get Indexed at Google?

by Barbra on January 3, 2007

see_no_evil_200px.jpgI think I’ve just figured out something important about Google: the topic of your website may seriously affect how long it takes for Google to index you.
Case in point: HomeBusinessWiz has been active for 10 weeks now and it still isn’t listed in Google. That seems like an awfully long time considering that I’ve done everything right in terms of having good, useful content as well as quality inbound links.
A month or so ago I wrote about what to do to get listed in Google . In that article I explained that it can take up to three months for a new site to get indexed.
But two days ago I created a personal development site called WelcomeJoy.com and it was indexed within 24 hours. In contrast, HomeBusinessWiz is still waiting after 10 weeks. Although I’m pleased that my new site got indexed so quickly, I am puzzled by the delay in indexing HomeBusinessWiz.

What gives?
I did all the same things in setting up both blogs. In fact, you would think that HomeBusinessWiz would be much more attractive to Google because it has 80+ articles compared with the mere three that WelcomeJoy has.
And WelcomeJoy has only one inbound link so far, whereas HomeBusinessWiz has 118 links from 62 sites.
You’d think HomeBusinessWiz would have been indexed long ago, wouldn’t you? I’ve been scratching my head trying to figure out what’s going on, and my theory is that it has something to do with the title and content of HomeBusinessWiz.
Put bluntly, I’m wondering if Google is extra-wary of any sites that are to do with home business because there are so many “work at home” scams on the Internet. Could it be that great “Google in the Sky” thinks HomeBusinessWiz is an evil site?
Oh boy. I never expected this. Live and learn.

Hi Barbra,
Just a thought….I have no idea if it works this way or not…but perhaps Google crawls sites based on the frequency of search terms, and “home business” is not as popular as “personal development” as a search term.

Wow, talk about dejavu! My site is in the same category as yours and it is literally taking forever! It seems that niche sights tend to get listed more quickly because of the uniqueness of their content.

I think article submission is the best method to get indexed on google. Try to submit your article to Ezine and other major article directories. The 2nd is directory submission.

Hi
Google is a minefield, however, my company specialises in selling Mobility Scooters, Stair Lifts, Electric wheelchairs ect, and we have had our site built with google maps etc.
We get indexed every week, as we are always making changes to the site.
http://www.MobilityOne.co.uk is only a very simple site, but Google obvioulsy likes the continual changes to it. Perhaps you should try that.

I am had the same issue with my first website but the best way I found was to start a blog (I have tried most of the other methods). My new website http://www.ukcomrpomiseagreements.co.uk took only 24 hours using the blog method.
